Today’s top 10 search list includes yet another angry driver boasting to be related to an official, unsafe Chinese cabbages from Shandong, and a 19 year-old sentenced to jail for running an organized sex trade group.

1. 我爸是公安局长 wǒbàshì gōngān júzhǎng – Yesterday around 10:30 AM in Shanxi, an angry driver pulled a bus driver out of his bus seat to give him a beating, all the while boasting out loud about being the son of the head of Ministry of Public Security in the region.  Here’s the story in Chinese.

2. Shāndōng báicài pēn jiǎquán – According to a television report, farmers in Shandong province have been spraying the banned preservative formaldehyde onto Chinese cabbages to keep them fresh for sale. Here’s the story in Chinese.

3. 90后少女培训小姐 90hòu shàonǚ péixùn xiǎojie – A 19 year-old has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for serving as the leader of an organized sex trade group. According to online reports, the young woman only took four months to gather more than 30 “employees” and train them to be sex workers. Here’s the story in Chinese.

4. 军人拍强拆遭羁押 jūnrén pāi qiángchāi zāo jīyā – An army man returning to his home in Yunnan for a family visit discovered upon arrival that his home was being demolished. Members of the local ministries in charge of the demolition handcuffed both him and his mother to prevent them from protesting. The man uploaded pictures of the ordeal online and is attracting a lot of concerned netizens who are expressing their discontent and anger towards the apparent injustice. 5. 掷出窗外网 zhìchū chuāngwài wǎng – A masters student from Shanghai’s Fudan University created a website called “Throw-out the window net,” which serves as an encyclopedia for online users hoping to get the latest information on food safety issues in the country. 6. 韩寒 马英九 Hán Hán Mǎ Yīngjiǔ – Well-known writer Han Han recently met with Ma Ying-jeou, leader of the KMT Party in Taiwan at a discussion forum. Here’s the story in Chinese.

7. 酒泉地震 Jiǔquán dìzhèn – A 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck Jiuquan of Gansu yesterday around 18:19 local time. There are no reports of deaths or injuries from the authorities at the moment. Here’s the story in Chinese.

8. 200亿超生罚款200yì chāoshēng fákuǎn – News reports online are claiming that the government collect a total of 20 billion yuan in fines each year to families exceeding the birth  limit. Here’s the story in Chinese.

9. 松江巨响 Sōngjiāng jùxiǎng – Yesterday around 11:30, civilians in the Shanghai Songjiang district heard what sounded like two loud explosions nearby.
